My favourite bass is a black '77 Precision with a maple neck. I bought it new and (after several re-frets!) it's still going strong. Without admitting my vintage it gives you an idea that I've been at this for a while!

I grew up in England, Wolverhampton to be precise, but in a family of Irish Traditional Musicians. I especially remember my Maternal Grandfather being a renowned button Accordionist - In fact, I inherited his prized Hofner, I cant play the confounded thing, but it retains pride of place in my office. Uncles, cousins and family friends would always be playing and singing at family get-togethers, indeed I can still play a few jigs on the Penny Whistle too! It was inevitable I was going to be in music one way or another.

As a teenager in the early seventies, I was first exposed to the likes of David Bowie, T-Rex, Hawkwind, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd. I was also very taken by the British Folk-Rock movement, especially Fairport Convention, probably my Irish traditional sensibilities combined with lots of English folk influences. At 12 I started guitar lessons and formed a schoolboy band, playing school functions and organising local gigs in church halls and the like.

On leaving school I started an apprenticeship, but was always playing in bands in the evening and weekends.

I switched to bass at 18 (there you are, now you can work out my vintage!) and have always been active since.

I have played in original bands, country, blues, soul, pop, indie, and classic rock bands.

Over the years, as well as loving both creating and holding down the bottom end, I've taken more and more interest in the management and marketing of music.

Whilst I have always been an active musician, during my "day-job" career, I rose to become a senior director in an international manufacturing and sales conglomerate. This gave me business insights, especially in sales and marketing, that many musicians miss. Now I put this experience to use in Great Gig Productions.

I am the producer, director and bass player/vocalist in UK Pink Floyd Experience. I am also available for dep gigs. Functions, indie gigs, classic rock, originals, soul, are all possible. Always worth an enquiry if you are stuck, and the location is no object, I cover the UK and beyond!
